Literature Text

All around me they slither and fly
Penetrating every aspect of my life
Rolling off tongues easily for me to hear
Wriggling deeply into my ears
So fatigued from hearing them all
Those awful words that squirm and crawl
That compulsion, corruption that strangles the truth
Is it a fair trade for the integrity you lose
I claim not innocence, but I abhor to indulge
In the twisted wordplay others find habitual
I do not condemn all whom deceive
For some it may be their only reprieve
Just remember where to draw the line
For all things come back to you in time
So choose wisely and try to be smart
For a lie not only veils the truth, it marks your heart
